Abstract: | The human performance evaluation represents a critical process on the improvement of organizational human capital performance which contributes for an improvement of the operational risk management, in the people risk chapter. Overall, the risk management can improve, as long as the employee’s performance improves, making the human performance evaluation assume an important role for the commercial banks sustainability. This Master Thesis aims to determine the contribution of the human performance evaluation for the operational risk management of commercial banks. The human performance evaluation is an organizational process that, if well implemented, contributes for the improvement of the employee’s performance. This improvement is obtained when the human performance evaluation is aligned with the organizational goals and with the employee’s individual goals and competences that are translated in the improvement of the operational risk management related to them. The research strategy was based on a case study about Banco Internacional de Moçambique, S.A. (BIM) and on a qualitative methodology. In this view, an administration of enquiries to the employees in the different areas of the bank was planned, but it was not possible and instead, it was conducted a documental research and an interview as form of data collection. Summarizing, it was concluded that, even though the human performance evaluation is taking its first steps in BIM, it brought a positive impact on the improvement of the performance of the employees. It is expected that on a long term, it will provide a significant contribution towards the minimization of the operational risk, considering that the valorisation of the human performance evaluation in this institution is being translated in a better operational people risk management |
