Implicações da intensificação do trabalho docente no ensino superior: o caso da Escola Superior de Jornalismo em Maputo

Abstract

The approach to higher education has been made from different perspectives. This study addresses the issue of higher education based on the intensification of teaching work. The main objective of the study is to analyze the implications of the intensification of teaching work in higher education, taking as an example the Escola Superior de Jornalismo in Maputo. The research, of qualitative nature, used the questionnaire and the interview as techniques of data collection. For this purpose, of the 36 individuals who constituted the study sample, one was a member of the board and 35 were full-time teachers, all selected from a total of 67 who make up the universe of ESJ teachers. Through the analysis of the discourse, it was found that the excess of activities, the lack of staff and the deficit planning of the activities constitute the factors of intensification of the teaching work in the ESJ. These factors have implications for the performance of teachers, thus compromising the normal course of their activities. Thus, it was concluded that the intensification of the teaching work interferes in their performance in the ESJ since the difficulties arising from this fact compromise the work of the teachers, the development of the students' skills as well as the results defined by the institution. Therefore, it is recommended that the institution redefine the planning of activities aimed at teachers so that they do not feel overwhelmed and increase the number of staff in order to minimize the intensification of teaching work
